How the Church is Transforming Global Communication: A New Initiative of Connection

A Vision That Inspired a Worldwide Initiative

What began in the Church Office Building auditorium on a warm June afternoon in 2024 has now grown into a groundbreaking global initiative that is reshaping how The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints works to reach Heavenly Father's children more effectively.

On that pivotal day, while the auditorium was filled to capacity, the audience sat in hushed anticipation as Elder David A. Bednar, an Apostle for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, shared his vision. He focused on the necessity of exploring, developing, and delivering Church materials and resources on a global scale, while making sure they aligned with the diverse cultures of God's children and remained firmly centered on gospel principles and Church doctrine.

Elder Bednar emphasized the importance of instructing and training area Church leaders and employees, enabling them to fulfill the mission of the Correlation Department within their respective areas. This marked a bold leap forward in the way the Church would operate, particularly in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. It became clear that establishing this new initiative in all global areas was crucial, ensuring that each area would know how to develop, produce, and distribute Church materials locally and tailored to their unique cultures.

A New Global Initiative Takes Shape

Under the inspired leadership of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve, the "Enhancing Area Communication, Publishing, and Correlation" initiative was launched in the Fall of 2024. This collaborative effort has been successful in uniting Church departments and Church areas to strengthen and unify gospel communications worldwide.

The initiative is being implemented in multiple phases while providing resources to help local areas create, evaluate, and adapt programs, materials, and initiatives that reflect their distinct cultural and linguistic needs. At the same time, it upholds the Church's doctrinal, legal, and financial standards. This forward-thinking approach demonstrates the Church's commitment to ensuring that members and others throughout the world can access sacred and essential materials in their own languages, with content that addresses their unique needs and cultural experiences.

Looking Ahead: A More Connected Church Globally

As this initiative continues to progress, the Church is positioned to deliver more focused and culturally relevant content to individuals and families everywhere. Through effective partnerships and inspired leadership, the Church's Communication Department, Publishing Services, and Correlation teams are collaborating to transform the way the Church conveys the message of Jesus Christ and His gospel. This new era of global communication supports the work of salvation and exaltation in every area of the Church, helping all of Heavenly Father's children to feel seen, heard, and understood, regardless of where they live or the language they speak.
